Cannot get any images in Outlook Mail app on my new Lumia 950 XL

Received my 950 XL yesterday and found a very annoying problem with the email app.

I add three email accounts in the Outlook mail app and none of them show me the pictures. It just shows "The linked image cannot be displayed. the file may have been moved renamed or deleted" with a red X. I have tried to search such a issue online but all the related answers are for the Outlook 2010 or 2013 which is the desktop version.

Is there any solution to this problem? Thanks a lot!

I'm running into this exact issue as well.  This is a serious problem for me, as there are a number of emails I consider important which rely on me being able to see the images, and not all of them are associated with web sites that I can choose to bring up.

I've tried recreating accounts, and looked to see if there were any settings that might be interfering with properly downloading these images, but so far I've had no success.

I tried to reset my phone, and it solved my problem. Now I can get all the images. Btw the composing in the Outlook mail need some serious work.

I'm having the exact same issue.  Did you recover from a backup from previous 8.1 phone?

Now that it seems to be confirmed that a reset should fix it I will give that a shot this weekend to see if it fixes it.

For those that fixed the issue with a phone reset, did you start fresh when you reset or did you recover a backup?

I assume you're talking about the software reset by going to Settings > System > About > Reset your phone.  This is the option that takes your phone back to factory settings, correct?  This is sort of annoying - I don't really feel like setting everything up again :(

No, I didn't recover the backup, just set it as a new phone.

I fixed mine by setting the as a new one, not recovering the backup.

Yes, it is the action which will make your phone back to the factory settings. I know it is really annoying but it works. Anyway this is the only way I know now to solve this issue. It is better to have a full functional phone than the incomplete.

I just started getting this as well on my 950XL. I know the images worked since Wed when I got it. It is something I would have noticed. I have a 950 as well and it is not having this issue. I was going to reset it anyway, for a different reason, so I will, and restore from a backup, and let this thread know. It does seem to have just cropped up though. Real strange.

UPDATE: Yup, a reset and restore did fix my issue. I did not restore to a 950XL backup, but rather to a 1520 (win 10 Insider) backup. Your mileage will vary, I suppose. If the images are critical at the moment, I'd give a reset/restore a shot. If not, wait a day. I can't imagine they don't know about this and aren't investigating. It is pretty widespread.
