BSOD on Device

Two days ago I believe my device got an update and went in to a BSOD boot loop.

The phone will reboot, get the Nokia logo for a few seconds then BSOD for few more seconds before cycling again.

I have tried using the Windows Device Recovery Tool but the device looping keeps interrupting the process and can't seem to get it working. Yes over the past two days i have tried multiple times to recover or reset device, nothing works.

Nokia Lumia 635 was on Window 10 Fast-track Update

Whats my next step? Toss the device?

The update failed for some reason.

From another post in the forums:

Turn off the phone, Once the phone is off, Hold the Volume down key then plug the charger (charger should be connected to the power source ",) Once you see the exclamation ( ! ), remove your finger from the button.

Then press the following keys in, Volume Up, Volume Down, Power Key and Volume down. The phone will turn on automatically, this may take several minutes and it will show two gears that are spinning just wait for it to finish.

Lumia 1520.3 Surface RT

Yes, that's the hard reset, didn't work for me.

Phone doesn't actually power off, the only way to turn off is to remove battery and as soon as you insert it goes into loop. I tried holding down while inserting battery, never got the exclamation mark.

will keep trying.

Thanks.

The constant reboot is not good, the phone must be able to shut down.

Will it keep rebooting also when the back cover is removed?
Any damage to the power or volume micro-switches in the phone itself?

As a last resort, press and hold volume-up while it starts. This will normally force a flash mode, with a static lightning bolt and gear wheel on screen, where the phone should be recognized by the recovery tool, or at least it should be in a state to use the My phone is not detected option in the recovery tool.

Otherwise we are running out of options. Lumia 640 is now so affordable that out-of-warranty repair on a 630/635 is not economical.
