Question to Nokia Asha users facing WLAN issues

I have a request to all the Nokia Asha users who are not able to use Wi-Fi (WLAN) with Xpress Browser / other apps & services and receiving "turn mobile data on" or similar error message, or alternatively the Browser is always connecting with mobile data and not ever offering the WLAN alternative even when WLAN is turned on:


could you tell me the following details:


  • What operator SIM-card you are using?
  • Which country you are living in?
  • Phone model and device SW version (you can see this info by dialing *#0000# in device homescreen)

Based on our investigation this would be a problem with the operator settings (received with the operator configuration message. WLAN should work fine before that), not a phone SW issue. It would be very important to know what are the affected operators, so that we can do further testing on the topic and (hopefully) finally have a proper solution for this issue.
