New MS Edge (2020): Desktop <> Mobile Favorites Sync not working

Congratulations on the new Edge, Microsoft! Nice, first step in the right direction and hopefully a great contender to Google's Chrome stronghold!

The Desktop version imported almost everything nicely from Chrome, including Favorites, passwords, history, etc.

The Mobile version on Android, however, does not have any of the Favorites sync'ed. Both the Desktop and Mobile versions are signed in with the same MS account. Has anyone been able to figure out how to get the Desktop Favorites synced to their phones?

I've tried:

- Signing in to Edge from Android and iOS

- Signing in to Edge Desktop from multiple computers (sync isn't working between the PCs either)

In all Edge instances, I have Sync enabled for everything.

Hi Michael,

If I think what you are hoping to do, please do this in the new Edge on your Windows PC (desktop):

1. Choose the ellipsis (three dots to the far right of the address bar).

2. Go to the bottom and choose Settings.

3. The first item therein is called Profile.

4. Go into Profile and choose Sync (the item that is below the Manage Account). Toggle the sync button to On. After doing that, you will then see under your Profile pic and email address that Sync is on will appear there in green.

Good luck!

It worked for me with my Android tablet.

Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

I understand that you receive an error when trying to sign in to Microsoft Edge using a Microsoft Account. We will definitely look into this issue for you and try to resolve the issue. In order to identify the root cause of the issue, we need to check the log files from Microsoft Edge.

I have sent a Private Message to you, please share the log files through the message. To access Private Message click on your Profile on the top right corner, then click on the ellipses, and select View Private Messages.

Regards,

Thanks, @jmndotme. I verified that all desktop browsers (and mobile) have Sync enabled, but it appears that none of them actually sync between one another. I've submitted diagnostic data over to @Nikhar_K via private message to troubleshoot further.

FYI, edge://sync-internals is the diagnostic page to access. Replace edge:// with chrome:// for said browser.

To give everyone an update, Nikhar_K has taken my desktop and mobile browser logs and sent them over to the development team about 11 days ago. Thank you, Nikhar_K!

I would love to move to Microsoft Edge Browser but the favorites do not sync between the browser for Windows and iOS.  This is a very basic feature that Chrome has offered for years.  In fact, it is the reason I use Chrome.  Until this is fixed I am stuck using Chrome.  Come on MS get it together.

The last Android app version (45.01.4.4900) finally syncs favorites. The reign of Google Chrome is approaching to an end.

Glad to hear it.

Except not for me. Though it did before. Now when I click on favorites, it's empty.

Oddly however, when I go to save a new webpage, all of my folders are present, and I can save to them.

Candidly, I'm wondering if I set it up wrong.

Any insights anyone?

Maybe you've already tried it, but by default you see the mobile favorites. If you want to see desktop favorites, you need to go up a level tapping the left arrow.

My suggestion is to delete all the data from the Android app and make a fresh configuration.

Thanks, I really appreciate it.

But it didn't work.

Though I know (because, like I said, I've used it before) "regular" Favorites should appear on Android Edge , maybe I could do a work around, go to the PC and move all my regular Favorites to Mobile Favorites. Whatcha think?

Really, I just want them to know about it, my problem at least (not yours, you lucky guy) , and fix it. I'm patient. I really like Edge. But this is a big pain too.
