How do I pin pages to Start?

In the old version of Edge, there was a (very useful) option to pin a webpage to Start via the three dots ... menu, but it's not there now, only an option to pin to the taskbar.

How can I pin pages to Start in new Edge?

Thanks.

Hi Nathanael

Yes, it does seem that Microsoft has forgotten to add this functionality to the new Edge browser, you can if you wish navigate to a web page, then click and drag the lock icon in the address bar onto your Desktop to create a Desktop shortcut to a website as a work around until Microsoft get this resolved

In the meantime, in Edge, press Alt + Shift + i to open the Edge Feedback App and please report this on that so the developers will see this and hopefully implement this functionality soon . . .

There is a somewhat round-about way of saving a website to the Start Menu in the New MS-Edge. First, make sure that your Start Menu is configured to show Recently Added apps (Settings, Personalization, Start, then make sure, or turn on, "Show recently added apps". (NOTE: This isn't absolutely necessary. It just makes the next steps a lot quicker and easier.)

Now, follow the procedure for pinning a site to the taskbar (... More Tools, Pin to taskbar). Next, open your Start Menu in the All Apps view. You should now see the website listed at the top in the Recently Added section. Finally, right-click on it (or long-press if using a touch-screen) and select Pin to Start. Voila! Yes, I know it's not very elegant, but at least it works.

Hi, I've been trying the work around described by ARSalmon1962 on June 11. I did enable the recently added app feature but I can't get the work around to work. Specifically this part: "You should now see the website listed at the top in the Recently Added section."

I see the website pinned to the taskbar but it doesn't show up on the recently added section. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks!

Hi, I'm not sure why its not showing in Recently Added, but hopefully the pinned website should also show up in the All Apps list in the alphabetical section, so try looking in there.

Thanks Nathanael,

The app was listed in the Alphabetical sequence and I was able to pin it to my Start Page.  This is a good work around!

Thanks again, I appreciate it.

Glad you're reporting this to Microsoft.  What a dreadful oversite on their part.  It's July 1, 2020 and still no fix to return old functionality.
