Why is my Microsoft Authenticator App not sending me the numbers when being prompted to.

I am trying to log into my school account and everytime I do so it asks for my authentication code. Although, my app does not have one, therefore what am I to do? I have tried completely everything and it won't work. Could it be the fact that I just got a new phone, and how could I fix this error? I am in desperate need of help because my whole academic career depends on me getting an authentication log in code

I understand that if you change the device you won’t receive a verification code but I think what I did was I deleted the app and when I redownloaded it my previous account with the verification code got lost and now it won’t send codes to me

  1. Phone settings: Check that your new phone has the Microsoft Authenticate app installed correctly, and make sure the app has permission to send notifications.

  2. Account Settings: Sometimes, the security settings of your account may need to be confirmed on your old device, especially if you change devices, and the authentication settings may need to be updated.

  3. Network connection: Make sure your phone is connected to a stable Internet, whether it is Wi-Fi or mobile data. An unstable network may cause the verification code to fail to be sent.

1. Obviously the Authenticate APP is installed

2. What account settings? The phone, app or the account the OP is trying to log in to?

3. Standard troubleshoot answer that does not relate to the problem and is not helpful.

Is anyone having a problem with LinkedIn 2FA? Same issue, they send a code when you are logging in, but MS Authenticator app does not provide a code. If you don't have a code, you can't log in.

Apparently this is an ongoing problem with MS, and it shouldn't be ours. A customer should not have to do a search to fix problems and end up on a community board.

My issue is I cannot log into Edge, my Windows 11 PC, but yet I am logged on here as you can see. WTH?

Authenticator does not alert me with a code nor does sending code to my phone work. The error from MS "sorry try another day" or "method is not working right now" is not acceptable.

If you can open your Authenticator app there will be a temporary code available. Try using that.
