Are you looking for a menu bar?
In Edge, unlike Internet Explorer which had a horizontal menu bar at the top of the window, Edge has a slightly different configuration!
Click on the "Three dots" in the upper right corner to access all Edge options!
If you still have a problem I hope your answer!

Thanks. I'm looking for a horizontal menu bar. I don't want to click ... everytime I want to do something. It's definitely not as efficient.
I don't typically like add-ons either, especially from untrusted sources.

This is really unpleasant, wouldn't the aim be to make a user friendly tool? This is the most unfriendly idea ever !!!! Users want a menu bar, period. I do not want the side bar ( the dots), and no way would I want to look up shortcuts... crazy idea. All of this is more time consuming and cumbersome than using a simple menu bar. For ..sake... , why stop something that actually works ?

I understand that you don't want to click to access the Edge menu!

WOW! Awesome!
Microsoft: "To make your life easier, we've hidden the straight-forward menu bar BUT here's a list of keyboard shortcuts you can memorize. What? Edge isn't the only tool you use for all your computing needs? No problem, write the shortcuts down and post-it on your monitor OR create a text file and type in all the codes. Simply open the text file and refer to that when you're using Edge. Problem solved. Have a great day!"

I think the question may be about having the Favorites horizontally along the top of the Edge browser window which is slightly different...try this:

It's not about the favorites bar, it's about the menu bar. It is not about shortcuts, it's about the menu bar. Why is it NOT an option to use?

I see you are a touch typist like me. Edge still supports using the ALT key to navigate.
Press the ALT key.
Notice the ... menu highlights.
Press the space bar.
Notice the side menu has items with underlines.
Press one of the underlined letters like "d" to open downloads.
Yes, it is not the FILE, EDIT, etc. comfortable top menu we really want back, but it is the same number of keystrokes. ALT+space to display the ... menu is the same as ALT+F to drop down the File menu. This does give you a way to ALT navigate using underlined menu item characters that we have grown to expect since Windows went up against Apple's original OS. Just chalk it up to progress, I guess.

Hello Stoneware,
I found this extension on the Edge addon store which gives you your menu bar into Edge :)
Anyways, here is the link
Proper Menubar for Microsoft Edge - Microsoft Edge Addons
Please try the above extension from the store which is made by a well known extension creator.
Thanks and happy to help :)

Thanks, but to be more specific, I don't see a desktop "short cut" option as IE had under the File option. 🤔
