Profile picture

Windows 10 just alerted me that it had installed a new, updated Edge.  I thought I'd give it another try, so I tried to change my profile picture, unsuccessfully.  Did this many times, logged in then out.  Used Instructions:

https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/144710-how-change-profile-picture-microsoft-edge-chromium.html

e.g, browsed to new picture at "profile" ( I only have one), sized it correctly, clicked save.  The new picture shows in my Microsoft account page https://account.microsoft.com/profile/, but is unchanged in the Edge menu?

Also, I wanted to sign out of my Microsoft account, and various instructions says to click on the "name" in the Edge top ribbon, but there is no name there?

What am I doing wrong, or is this just another MS bug in Edge?

Hi Hydrackj. I'm Greg, an installation specialist, 10 years awarded Windows MVP, and Volunteer Moderator, here to help you.

Did you follow the Ten Forums Tutorial to import a new pictures to size and use for the Edge Profile Picture? The one in the MS Account profile is not available to use here.

Yes, I think I followed the instructions at the Ten Forums link in my first post which is titled "How to Change Profile Picture in Microsoft Edge Chromium".  (This link is confusing because it provides instructions on changing the Edge picture and then immediately follows that with the instructions for changing the MS account picture, which I don't want to do?)

I go to settings->profiles and see a box with my Edge picture there and "..." options next to it:

When I click the options I get:

If I "change picture", it sends me to my MS account profile:

https://account.microsoft.com/profile/edit-picture

Why would it send me here when clearly I want to change just the Edge profile picture?  If I click on "Update", whatever that is, nothing happens.

If you click the ... (elipsis three dots) next to the Sign out box in your first picture, choose Edit, then Change Picture, you can change the  Profile pic.

That's exactly what I did.  After clicking on "Change Picture" I'm taken to the link I gave you above:

As you can see this picture is associated with my MS account not my Edge profile picture.

It looks like it wants us to change it to the same picture as for our MS Account now.

Anyway click "New Picture" and browse to the desired picture in your Pictures folder, choose and crop it, then Save. See if it changes in both places.

I did that, hoping it would save to both Edge and MS account picture, but it didn't.

Other's had suggested logging out of the MS account and back in,  as a way to force a change in the Edge picture, but that didn't work.

In the end I have two different pictures, one for my MS account (see red car) and one for my Edge browser menu (see cropped picture of me in my second post).

Did you also try signing out of Edge and then signing back in?

Yes, I wanted to do that, but as noted in my original email, I don't see how to do it.  In the ribbon at the top there is no option to sign out.  If I click on my profile picture, there is no option to sign out.

Searching the web, it is suggested to click on your name in the Edge ribbon, but my name isn't there.

So how do I sign out of edge?

In the Edge Settings > Profiles > Your Profile > Sign out button across from Profile Name.

Yes, I tried that unsuccessfully, thinking I was signing in/out of a MS account, not Edge.  What I see at "Edge Settings > Profiles > Your Profile > Sign out button across from Profile Name." is:

If this was an "Edge" sign in/out as you suggest, why doesn't it say "Edge", not Microsoft Account.

So all actions I see, like change picture, sign in/out seem to pertain to the MS account-why is this when according to you these actions should only apply to an Edge account?

Someone needs to explain exactly what an "Edge account" is.  Is there a link somewhere at MS that discusses this?
