Prevent extensions from being disabled or edited on Microsoft Edge Mac?

Hi there,

Have been searching around, but having no luck finding a solution here.

I have Microsoft Edge for Mac. I want to prevent user profiles from being able to go to Settings > Extensions > Manage Extensions and then being able to disable individual extensions.

I would also like to prevent extensions which are NOT shown in the Toolbar from being edited (what one sees under .Settings > Extensions > EXTENSION > Extension Options).

Ideally, these options would be available behind a password, but I am open to other possibilities. Perhaps there is a command in Terminal that could work, similar to this guide for disabling InPrivate mode?

https://www.guidingtech.com/disable-inprivate-browsing-microsoft-edge-chromium-windows-macos/

The reason behind this is that I have some extensions which work as content blockers. They work really well when active, but are easy to disable through these methods.

Thanks so much!

Hi David,
I am Dave, I will help you with this.
Edge does not have the option to lock your Extensions, if you use an extension like the one below, that may provide you with the option to lock the extensions.

Thanks for your message Dave! Unfortunately that extension doesn't have what I am looking for.

Password protection for the extensions would be ideal, but I am open to other options. I know I used a terminal command to prevent use of the InPrivate Mode, but I have no idea how to write those commands or if there would be one suitable for preventing disabling or editing the extensions. Here is a guide which shows what I mean: https://www.guidingtech.com/disable-inprivate-browsing-microsoft-edge-chromium-windows-macos/

Thanks again though!

Hi David,

If that extension does not enable you to lock you extensions, there is as far as I know, no other way to do this, Edge itself does not have that option.

So I did find an extension that does what I want: the paid version of Blocksite

https://blocksite.co/

However, it is still possible to delete the extension without a password or much difficulty. Is there any way to prevent extensions (especially specific ones) from being deleted?
