New Tab - Microsoft Start how to change?

Since Version 118, when opening a new tab, Edge pours the gunk from Microsoft Start. I would like to have a new tab go to about:blank.

I've looked in Settings > Start, home and new tabs. In "New Tab Page" I tried to click the "Customise" button, but it only opens the Microstoft Start drivel, and I cannot change to default to about:blank.

How to get rid of this annoying Microsoft Start please???

Hi BoerenKnuppel, I am Paulo and I'd like to help.

Unfortunately, there's no setting in Edge to change the default new tab page. However, you can use this extension to customize your own and set about:blank if that's what you prefer.

The extension is disabled after installation so you will have to enable it first in edge://extensions/. Click on the extension and enter your preferred URL and save it.

MS's insistance on pushing everything Edge and Bing just lost me. Off to try and Download Chrome.

i hate microsoft and the way they monopolize everything and force you to use their stuff and then they censor you if you think they prop up the traitorous junta and their ilk and dont want anyone to have an unapproved opinion...thats why we got trump in the first place wxactly why...you dont get to run the world the world will come for you...and just so you know this is what you did to a customer with your customer service failures and decision to marginalize us

specifically censoring comment on the start page and forcing me to use it because you cant change it ...at leastr with pen and paper we still had freedom

Forcing people to see your terrible news headlines is absolutely disgusting.

First, you did it with widgets (thank God you finally fixed that mess), and now Edge needs the same treatment.

Stop forcing people to see what you want them to see, it is only going to keep pushing them off your products. Nobody wants your stupid ads and news propaganda **** shoved down their throats.

It's been a while since I've looked at Edge and to their credit - They have removed a lot of the junk and made it easier to choose how much rubbish you see. Good work.. though I am doubtful it will make me change back.
