(the type */* to search from saved info thing popup.

Thank you and have a wonderful day!

Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

We understand the inconvenience caused due to Edge Autofill feature. In order to get clarity and to assist you accordingly, please reply with the answers to the questions below:

  • What is the Version and Build of Windows 10 installed on the PC? (Type winver in Windows search/Run command)

  • What is the version of Edge installed on the PC? (Open Edge > click on (…) dots from top right corner > click on Settings > Click on About Microsoft edge from the left pane).

In this scenario, we would suggest you to perform these steps and check.

Disabling the Autofill in Edge.

  1. Open Microsoft Edge

  2. Click on the three dots (…) from the right top corner.

  3. Select Settings from the drop down and click on Privacy, search, and services from the left pane.

  4. Now click on Choose what to clear every time you close the browser.

  5. Toggle the switch to On for Autofill form data.

  6. Relaunch Edge and check.

Let us know the results. If the issue persists, we will certainly assist you further.

I'm having the same issue, but it's ANY text box that submits data. I've followed the steps in your reply and it DOES clear them, and I can set it to clear them every time I close the browser, but I would like it to never record them and offer them as suggestions, ever; because as soon as I go back to the page and answer a few questions, it just stacks up with this really annoying popup that I can't seem to get to go away.

I even went to edge://flags/ and disabled "Show Autofill predictions" and it did not fix the problem after restarting edge.

Windows 10 Version 20H2 (OS Build 19042.1165)

Edge Version 92.0.902.84 (Official build) (64-bit)

I've been looking for a solution for about 45 minutes and I'm starting to think that it's to just go back to Chrome.

I would like it to never record them and offer them as suggestions,

There's a clue in the pop-up, and even a link there to this settings page: edge://settings/personalinfo.

On that page, turn Save and fill personal info Off.

I have an up-to-date (as of a few days ago) version of Edge running on Windows 10 Pro.

I've been using Edge for about six months, when I purchased my Lenovo ThinkStation,

not some no-brand cheap computer.

I started to do a crossword puzzle just now and that annoying box popped up

every time I tried to enter an answer. I've done hundreds of crossword puzzles

in the past six months and have never had this problem.

Worse yet, several attempts to locate this setting using the search box in Edge

elicited the infamous "No Results Found" response, thus my trip to this page.

I have not made any changes to the settings, so this must be some kind of bug,

which I hope doesn't recur because I've been happy with Edge so far and have

no desire to go back to Chrome or Firefox.

I have the same problem, but I'm using Windows 11. I have turned autofill off in Edge (ver 96.0.1054.34), but has not helped. I can't figure out of it's just an EDGE problem, or Office 365 as Outlook does the same thing. I can't find where it would be saving some of the info I enter, such as a username.

Thanks for any insight you can provide.

I have the same problem,

Please confirm that:

  • You have disabled both options on this page: edge://settings/personalinfo

  • You see a pop-up like that in the original post whenever you start making an entry in a form field.

If you can answer Yes to both of these, please submit a bug report. Whenever you find that something's not working as you'd expect, or there's anything else you'd like to bring to the attention of the product team, use the Send feedback option to make your views known or to report a problem. All feedback is seen by the Edge team, who will in many cases follow up by email so long as you include an email address with the report. It's also vital to include diagnostic data so the behaviour can be linked to your specific operating environment. The more users that submit feedback about a particular issue, the more likely it is that something will be done about it quickly. In Edge, press Alt-Shift-i to open the Send feedback dialogue.

Hi, experiencing the same issue. I hate that whoever decided to implement this just assumed that the "/" key is the least used key and made it an

un-customizable shortcut to access this saved info window. This is ESPECIALLY annoying when you're trying to input math answers. Disabling this feature does not remove this window.

This business where Microsoft Edge interferes with every sign-in by requesting their PW is a pain, I tried to get rid of it as you indicated without success. It used to occur once in a session, now it appears all the time. Please help me get rid of this annoyance. Thank you. Leon Magill

... Microsoft Edge interferes with every sign-in by requesting their PW ...

It's not Edge's password being asked for. You're asked to enter the password (or PIN) for the Windows user account. This keeps sensitive data (like passwords) safe in cases where someone else uses the computer. You can configure this safety feature using the options under Sign in on the edge://settings/passwords page.

This is not the same feature as the one the original poster in this thread was asking about, which deals with the autofill of personal information.
