Microsoft Edge August 2020 Update

Looking for a solution.

Since the Microsoft Edge August 2020 Update on my desktop, nothing stays signed in after shutting down.  Even tho One Drive, Quickbooks, etc are enabled for start up, I have to sign in every time.  My email account won't stayed signed in even when checking the "stay signed in for 2 weeks" as well as telling Edge to save my password.  There are times it won't even stay signed in between browser sessions.  I kept hoping the follow up updates would fix this but it hasn't yet.

Can you post the outcome of the following:

Right-click Start and choose Windows Powershell(admin). Paste the following:

Get-ScheduledTask | foreach { If (([xml](Export-ScheduledTask -TaskName $_.TaskName -TaskPath $_.TaskPath)).GetElementsByTagName(“LogonType”).’#text’ -eq “S4U”) { $_.TaskName } }


Please list down any task names if you get.

This sounds similar to what other users have observed, so with any luck their solution will apply. Please try this:

  1. In Edge, click  (Settings and more> Settings > Privacy, search and services to open the edge://settings/privacy page.
      
  2. In the right-hand pane, click on Choose what to clear every time you close the browser.  The page address changes to edge://settings/clearBrowsingDataOnClose 
      
  3. At the foot of that page, deselect Hosted app data.
      
  4. Close down Edge, restart the computer and test your logins.

Thanks. Together with iFiredog's suggestions - search for Task Scheduler in the Windows search and open it. Locate HpCustParticipation task, right-click it, and choose disable.


See if it resolves the issue.
