When i press Win +C it opens Teams Chat! I have no idea how to start copilot. I got notification of copilot when my browser updated. Windows 11 is 22H2 with no updates pending

Hi there,

First, where are you located?; that may have some bearing on one not having Copilot, YET... although, I think we are now past that point.

Here are some things that should help you:

If both Edge & the OS are definitely current...
Microsoft Edge Version 118.0.2088.69

Edition Windows 11 Pro

Version 22H2

Installed on ‎2022-‎10-‎01

OS build 22621.2428

Experience Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.22674.1000.0

> Windows Settings/Taskbar Settings and turn on the Chat icon AND the Copilot icon. And now open Copilot via its Taskbar icon. This will open the Copilot 'window or 'flyout'.

In Edge Settings > Sidebar. Click on Copilot

Now the Copilot icon will show on the Edge Toolbar. This will open Copilot within Edge.

As for Teams, Win+C should be opening Copilot, no longer Teams Chat; (use the taskbar icon). BUT with the Teams window open, Ctrl + 1 through 4 will select its 4 components, instead of clicking on them.

Cheers,
Drew

Thanks Drew, i have exactly those versions of windows and edge. But i do not have copilot(preview) listed in my taskbar items, just chat. Copilot is part of my edge - new icon top right.

I'm not that bothered, just frustrated that the instructions aren't working :-) If edge hadn't promoted it when updated i'd have remained in happy ignorance ;-)

You're welcome. Not seeing Copilot in the Taskbar Settings (YET) may be, as I said, a location issue. But what that Edge icon gives is as good or better than the Copilot window its Taskbar icon gives, anyway; since it has or shows Chat, Compose & Insights at the top. Although, both will avail the same things and functionality.

There was an OS Update recently that put the Copilot icon on the Taskbar, by default. I chose to not show it & use Win+C, instead. I suggest you hit Check for Updates in the OS Settings. Settings > Windows Update. You will certainly have it when 23H2 comes, soon.

Cheers,
Drew

@Drew 1903,

Do you have an icon on the Edge task bar that looks like the following? If so, select it.

Can also use Ctrl plus Shift plus dot (Ctrl Shift . )

I have and/or am aware of both things you mention. Please, explain why you are mentioning these two things to me?

As I said earlier, one can, also, use Win+C to open Copilot. (But) The OP was in regard to How To have Edge & Copilot integrated with each other.

Cheers,
Drew

Ok, folks, seems something has been tweaked since I had last looked. Wording looks to have been changed not, the message. Sounds like semantics to me 😂 But anyway...

Open Copilot > its ellipsis > Settings. Have the following that, you will (now) see, toggled On
