How to stop auto news feed

I'm on limited data, outside city. When I connect to my wifi it automatically starts a news feed. In one day it ate up 16 gb. How do I block or turn this auto feed off?

To disable the News feed on the New Tab page, select the gear icon on the top left corner > Scroll down the menu > On Content, select "Content Off"

Hi Juliet! I have HP Envy laptop. On new tab page I don't have a gear on top left but I have three dots on top right that says settings when I hover. I clicked and it has drop down box but nothing that says content. There's collections, favorites, history, extensions, etc. ??
