How to Change Search Engine within search bar underneath Microsoft Logo from Default Homepage?

I already know how to change the search engine within the address bar at the top of the page.

I am more specifically wondering how to change the search engine from within the default home page that Edge gives you? This pill-shaped search bar is located underneath the large Microsoft logo in the center of the page.

What is even more confusing, is within the Edge Android app, this search bar engine CAN be changed but alas, I do not see a way to change it from Bing on desktop.

Please help!

Answer

Hi Matthew

enter the following into the address bar

edge://settings/search

select "address bar" from the dropdown next to "Search on new tabs uses search box or address bar"

when you type in the search box in the center of the new tab page or the default home page, the cursor will jump to the address bar and use the search engine you have set for that.
