How can I revert to old Edge version?

Windows update installed a new Edge version.

However, in the new version, the pdf layout tab has been removed, and this sucks as I am using Edge primarily as a pdf reader and side layout is very handy.

I tried to uninstall Edge, but the uninstall button is greyed out ;-(((

How can I revert to the old Edge so that I can get back the pdf layout capability?

Hello GeorgeTouloupas,

I'm Jin, a fellow Windows 10 user and an independent advisor.

Sadly, when you receive the new version of Edge from Windows Update reverting back to the old version is no longer an option. I recommend you send a feedback or suggestion to have PDF layout tab back on the new Edge Chromium. You can either use the Feedback Hub app or press ALT+SHIFT+I when using Edge.

Kind regards.

Not a good reply for a lot of us.  The version is missing a lot of Aps I use and if I cannot get back the the older version I will just use Firefox.

I understand your sentiments. Unfortunately, Microsoft hasn't given us much of a choice. It's highly recommended you send this as feedback so the developers will be made aware of what they have rolled out to us.

I would also like to go back to the old egde legacy! There is no smooth scrolling in pdfs and the highlight feature is more difficult to use (needs more clicks than before).

I also talked about this here:
https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/edge/forum/edge_read-edge_win10/microsoft-edge-pdf-colors-look-significantly-worse/fd83f390-42ac-464f-98fa-b94ef63580ea?messageId=44bf8efd-f336-400c-99f3-29e8fc0c957e

It's terrible that I just received a downgrade prior to my exams.... I don't have time to deal with this now! Give me back smooth scrolling please!

This a perfect example of what happens when Microsoft does not release a BETA version first and if they did we would not have so many problems. We did not pay good money for Windows 10 and have to help them fix the man problems. I will just wait and hope their next update will fix all the problems.

1. You need to delete the Edge and EdgeUpdate folders in C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft

2. Then open PowerShell as administrator

3. Paste "Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers -Name Microsoft.MicrosoftEdge | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml" -Verbose}" and hit Enter

4. Go to Settings -> Apps -> Default apps

Choose Microsoft Edge Legacy as default app under Web browser section
