How block website

How block website

Hello, Tony Josifek

Welcome to Microsoft Community.

There are a few ways to block a website in Microsoft Edge, but none of them are built-in features of the browser. You will need to either edit the Hosts file on your Windows computer, install a dedicated extension, or use a third-party software. Here are some brief instructions for each method:

To block a website by using the Hosts file, you need to open the Command Prompt as an administrator (You can search this program in Windows search bar) and type notepad c:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts. Then, you need to add a line at the end of the file that looks like this:

127.0.0.1 www.blockthissite.com, where www.blockthissite.com is the website you want to block. You can add multiple websites in this way, and then save and close the file. This will block the website on all browsers, not just Edge.

To block a website by using an extension, you need to search and install an extension which lets you block websites from the Microsoft Edge Add-ons store.

To block a website by using a third-party software, you need to download and install a URL Blocker program which lets you create a list of websites you want to block and apply it to any user account on your computer.
