Disable searching websites in the edge search bar

I'll keep this simple, whenever I type in certain websites at the start of my search, edge uses the search function on that website to search for my question. I do not want this, the search feature on the website does not always cover what I'm looking for. I couldn't find a way to disable this, but I probably just didn't look in the right place. Is there a way to disable this? You can circumvent this by not putting the dot in the address, but I personally prefer doing so in some cases ("socket.io" instead of "socket io").

Hi YDN. I'm Greg, 10 years awarded Windows MVP, here to help you.

Set the default Search Engine for Edge browser here:
https://www.windowscentral.com/how-change-defau...

Does it work correctly in other browsers, as shown here:
https://www.howtogeek.com/114176/how-to-easily-... ?

If so and Edge persists in doing this very unusual behavior, I'll help you repair it.

Feel free to ask back any questions. Based on the results you post back I may have other suggestions if necessary.
