Continue running background extensions and apps when Microsoft Edge is closed is not working

My Task Manager shows that Microsoft Edge Desktop Version 118.0.2088.76, and its apps and extensions are still running in the background after I closed Microsoft Edge even when I have both my Edge “Startup boost” and “Continue running background extensions” settings turned off.

Is this a bug or is Microsoft Edge Desktop always going to stay up and running in the background even when the "Continue Running ..." feature is turned off?

Hi Laurel, I am Paulo and I'd like to help.
This seems to be a bug after the Windows Copilot installation. We'll have to wait for an update to fix it.

Also, I highly suggest that you report this by pressing Alt+Shift+I and submit a recording of what's happening so the Microsoft Edge team can see exactly what the problem is and create a fix for it.
