Excel 2016 Mac Jumpy Scrolling

In Excel 2016 on Mac, scrolling is absolutely awful. It jumps around across the page a lot, making in impossible to focus due to random page shifts. I have reported this multiple times with the frown. Here's a video:

Also, note the scroll bars do not animate when scrolling: they freeze and snap to the position the scroll ends.

This longstanding needs to be fixed. Excel is utterly unusable in its current form.

Like I said in the original post:

I have reported this multiple times with the frown.

And yes, I am running the latest version. This bug has plagued all versions of Office from beta, see here.

Try the Following for curiosity sake.

  • Go to  Menu
  • Energy Saver.
  •  Turn off Automatic Graphics switching:
  • Close then Open Excel. Should help.
If it does send feedback telling you did this.

Yep, I actually use GFX.io to regulate the use of my discrete graphics card. It has no effect on how scrolling behaves in Excel - I have reported this with the "frown" in every release since early beta. It literally makes Excel unusable.

I have also experienced this same issue since the public betas and am disappointed the issue has persisted through the final release.

I used the smiley face in the upper right of the menu bar to report the issue with a reference to this discussion thread and included a link to rxcs's video capturing the scrolling performance issue.

Hope it is addressed ASAP, as this issue really makes the program unusable in many instances.

I do not have this option on my MacBook Air; I assume it is not available for my hardware.

Some machines it does help with. A lot it doesn't  all of you in any event do the right thing in the end by sending a Frown Report.

You could either report on it, or vote on it at this site as well:

Excel Users' Voice

That may help as well. My suggestion would be to join, it's free then you can comment on (good or bad and vote on Suggestions and bug reports. There is one also for Word, PowerPoint, OutLook, and OneNote.
