There isn't currently a way to do this straight from PowerPoint. If this is a feature you'd like to see in future versions of Office for Mac, be sure to send your feedback by clicking Help >Send Feedback... in any Office application or by

That being said, there is a workaround! There's an application on your Mac called Automator. It's designed to automate such tasks and PowerPoint has created actions to make this super easy. Here's how to do it:
Inside your Applications folder, open Automator
For the Choose a type for your document: prompt, choose Application
In the search box, type Ask for Finder Items
From the results, click and drag the Ask for Finder Items action to the workflow area on the right
Under the Ask for Finder Items action you just added to the workflow, check the box for
Allow Multiple Selection
Next, type Create PowerPoint Picture Slide Shows in the search box and add that action to the workflow
When you're done, the workflow should look like this:
From the Menu Bar at the top, choose File > Save... and save the application in an easy to access location (the Desktop would be best)
Double click on the application you just saved, choose the pictures you want to use and click
