Outlook Sync Services not available

Does anyone know why the Sync Services window in Outlook is empty when I open it? I have Lion and Outlook 2011. I would like to sync the calendar with iCal.

You can turn on Sync Services in only one Identity at a time. If you have older Identities you might need to "Switch Identity" to turnoff Sync Services in preferences for that Identity.

Deleting these files in your User’s Library/Preferences folder:

com.microsoft.Outlook.SyncServicesPreferences.plist
com.microsoft.SyncservicesAgent.plist

Also in the User's Library/Preferences/Microsoft/Office 2011 folder delete OfficeSync Prefs

You'll need to restart after deleting prefs.

Sync Services in Outlook is 'merge' only. It's advised that you export your data from all applications and devices before syncing.

For any data that is synced, you need to make frequent backup of your data in case you need to restore. Under File > Export select export as .olm file and uncheck all but contacts. Do the same for events. You might have a problem with contacts and not events so you need individual backups so you don't have to deal with duplicates.
