How to manually edit Network Connections in Build 10049

In Build 10049 of Windows 10 Technical Preview, if I try to open the Network Connection properties on an Ethernet or WLAN network, I get “An unexpected error occurred.”

This makes it difficult to manually edit my Network Connections, view my IP address, set a static IP address, or set a DNS Client Server address.  How can I resolve this?

Hello,

Microsoft is aware of this problem and is investigating a fix in a future build.

In the meantime, here are some alternative methods for accomplishing these tasks:

How to view your IP address:

  •          Open an Elevated Command prompt
    • The easiest way to open this is to Right Click the Start Button (Or use Windows + X keyboard
    • shortcut) and select the Command Prompt (Admin) option
  •         Type the command

            Ipconfig

  •         Hit Enter

How to set a static IP address:

How to set a DNS Client Server address:

     ·        Try running a cmdlet by following the guidelines in this article:               https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj590768.aspx
