I have an app which you do not have: UpdateAdvisor and it might be the key factor. Read more about it at

http://www.winbeta.org/news/microsoft-releases-updateadvisor-for-future-windows-phone-updates

You may encounter some glitches while performing the upgrade. I did. However, it is a worthy risk taking. My HTC 8x is running on Windows 10 (for Mobile) and the automatic (periodic) reboot has completely stopped for at least five hours now after I performed the Factory Reset through the Settings (the Reset Your Phone) button. Please see the two images below for more information.

Hi again James,

My phone also has stopped to restart itself after my last Hard Reset (today around  9:30 UTC) but still have a problems with Icons and text.

And I cannot install the app "UpdateAdvisor" you have mentioned. "Get This App" button is disabled for me.

Can you please post a screenshot from your Settings and/or allApps screen - just to compare with mine.

Hello, Yesterday I installed the windows mobile 10 preview on my htc 8x (8.1 os). Unfortunately I had rebooting problem every 5-6 minutes. I tried soft reset and hard reset several times but the problem didn't solved. I tried windows phone recovery tool but it could not find the phone so it was not succesfull. Today I tried one of rom update and I was able to back to win mobile 8.1. Here is the what i did.

1)Download  https://yadi.sk/d/g4sR-Nmoj2y9G  (win mobile 8.1 rom and rom update utulity)

2)Unzip the downloaded rar file

3)Open the phone on recovery mode:

         Turn off phone

Volume down+Camera button+Power to turn on recovery

When  the phone vibrates release only Power button

Wait pressing volume down+Camera button until white screen and some tiny sentences appear

Plug the phone to computer via usb cable

Double click ROMUpdateUtility.exe on the computer

Now it starts to flash. The screen goes to black and green words come.

Wait until the progress completed to %100. It is about 10-15 minutes.

At the first try phone has gone reboot 5% but when the second try it copleted %100.

Now it is working on win mobile 8.1 without problem.

Phone unbranded htc 8x.
