from 0x800f081f to 0x800f0984 when updating Windows 10

Last 2 weeks I got  0x800f081f errors for KB Windows 21H1 insider updates.

KB5001330 now results in 0x800f0984

Please Microsoft do something about this. It is frustrating.

Thank you,

I keep the fingers crossed, that you are successfull soon. Althought the machine seems to run OK

without this update this incident is extremely frustrating.

The symptoms of the error are:

KN5001330 is downloaded and then the installation is started.

The installation shows some progress reports: 11% done 20% done, than a very long period (more than 5 minutes)

up to 44% done.

Again a very long pause,  then 99% and 100% done. Then an about 5 minute pause and then error message 0x800f081f

and information: try it again later   came up.

So far to my desktop PC     WIN 10 Home 20H2 64 Bit!

The last update on may Surface Tablet ( also Win 10 Home 64 Bit) was successfull, although there appeared a message:

"Phase 2 von 2

Windows wird vorbereitet

Schalten Sie den Computer nicht aus."    (message in German)

After about 1 or 1 1/2 hours (or even longer) this preparation process came to an end

and the final processing started - shutdown and restart and then application of the updates  (took also pretty long)

You may ask yourself: What the hell is Microsoft doing during this eternally long time :-((.

I solved the problem as follows:

Solved: I downloaded the operating system image version 20hH2
through the MediaCreationTool20H2.exe tool that I downloaded from
https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=691209 and reinstalled.
After that I made all the updates and managed to arrive until 21H1, 19043.906.

Update:

it worked. !!!

I used the MediaCreationTool which offered the direct update without storing the Windows iso file.

The benefit was, that all the required updates have been evaluated automatically.

If you select, that your apps and data are kept, it works like a normal update.

But it takes quite a while (about 2 hours),  but now I have the most recent Windows Version 20H2 Build 19042.928.

Now everything seems to be OK.

This was already discussed in the link that was posted above

https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/insider/forum/insider_wintp-insider_update/build-19043928-out-to-beta-release-channel/6db87811-50f3-486f-82ff-75a317e5c573?messageId=381a1b69-01e4-4695-bf53-e7c25e1c64bc

In-place ISO install corrects this because the issue is coming from 19043.899, the ISO update bypasses .899 so WU can get the OS current.

Johnny

Try using the RP ISO for 19043 on the Insider Download page:
