Activation error 0x800700B on Windows 10 Technical Preview after a recent update.

Original Title - 10-23-14 windows 10 upgrade issue after

So on a random my computer tells me its installing windows 10.....we've been running it for a few weeks now so  that was kinda weird....well now it wont let me activate my windows error 0x800700B

Anybody got a reason?

Please answer these questions to get more clarity on this issue.

  • When exactly are you getting the prompt to activate Windows?

  • Have you installed all Windows Updates completely and successfully?

Some files in the Windows Components folder are either missing, broken or corrupt do to which you might be facing this issue. I can understand that it must be difficult for you when things are not working as it should. Sorry to know that you are facing this issue.

The recent update for Windows 10 Technical Preview is the new built update 9860. I think that the message you are seeing is the update install notification. Ensure to have that particular update installed.

Let us follow these methods and check if this helps.

Method 1.

Close all windows and restart the computer once to check if the issue persists.

Method 2.

Follow these steps to retype the product key and activate one more time to check if this helps.

  • Press "Windows key + R" to get the run window.

  • Type “slui 3” and hit enter.

Type the correct Windows Product key and check if this helps with the activation issue.

I had an issue with activation too, I just changed the Key to the one provided when downloading the preview, once this was done I could activate.
