15061 error (0x800b0109) update files not correctly signed

Trying to upgrade from 15058 to 15061 fails with the same error code 0x800b109, similar to the upgrade to 15046.

In the case of 15046 I ultimately had to reinstall  the Preview version from DVD.

I checked with the latestwu.diagcab. Initially a problem was detected and repaired. The second time it is indicated that the problem solver is not able to repair the problem.

Answer

Have you checked for windows errors?

Right-click start, Command prompt (admin) or Powershell (admin)

Type sfc /scannow (press enter)

Do you have any file errors & if so are they repaired?

If not try downloading build 15058 ISO and rerun build again.

Please backup your data to a USB and remove and keep it safe, just in case you get update errors.

Visit - https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windowsinsiderpreviewadvanced

Login as an insider in the top right of the webpage to access the download.

Under Select edition, arrow down and pick

Windows Insider Preview - build 15058 , click [Confirm]

Under Select the product language, arrow down and select your language, click [Confirm]

Click - either the 64-bit download or 32-bit download.

If you are not sure which to choose, click start, settings, System, about

Check System Type for 64-bit or 32-bit Operating system

Save the ISO file, then right-click and open with File explorer.

Double-click setup.exe on the new drive letter created and install the 15058 update again.

It is very similar to using windows update as it saves your files & settings but it uses an ISO instead.
