Question

Q: Can't boot Windows 10 *****PLEASE HELP URGENTLY****** This thread is locked from future replies

I can't boot Windows, sometimes I see "Reboot and select proper boot device...", sometimes I see the blue screen that asks me to refresh my laptop, can't do that, says "Refresh encountered a problem. No changes were made" Whenever I am lucky enough for me to see my desktop, I can use it for like 1-3 minutes before seeing the BSOD with errors like "CRITICAL_PROCESS_DIED" or "SYSTEM_THREAD_EXEPTION_NOT_HANDLED". Also, diagnosing the C: disk doesn't fix the problem, running in command prompt "sfc /scannow" turns errors too. PLEASE HELP as I am now on an Android tablet and part-time on a good old trusty Windows 8.1 laptop, but I really want my Windows 10 beast back!

Hi all!

I think I have found a solution!

I had nearly the same problem as yours: My pc didn't boot, and every time I tried, the "blue screen of death" appeared.

I tried restoring, using a back-up... but anything worked.

This is what I did:

1. Downloaded a new win 10 iso: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10ISO

2. Burn the iso downloaded in a usb using https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/windows-usb-dvd-download-tool. (Yes, it works for Windows 10) (From other computer)

3. Opened command prompt. (In the broken pc)

4. Started DiskPart: "start DiskPart.exe"

5. And created a new partition of over 30 GB, more info here: http://www.hdd-tool.com/partition-magic/use-diskpart-command-to-resize-partitions.htm

6. Now, plug in the usb, and type in the command prompt random letters, like "E:" (Make sure to put the dots ":") Now, type "dir" to see the files inside, and find your usb.

7. Run this command: "start setup.exe"

8. Follow the instructions and select "personalized install" or "custom install".

9. Select your partition and click next.

10. Follow the instructions and you are done!

Sorry for my bad English!

Hope it worked!
