I found the problem at my PC about this ESENT error, at least it works for me to get rid the error.

Maybe i'm lucky about it, last week i install Windows 10 at my Toshiba laptop, i saw there's an option to sync windows setting with other devices using my Microsoft account, i do not want to sync the settings because the laptop have it own setting, so i turned off the sync setting on my PC, since that day i never see ESENT error anymore at my PC event viewer, i tried on my laptop also few days ago to turned off the sync setting and the ESENT error disappear also at my laptop.

I just want to share my experience here, who know my experience can help somebody.

Since the errors stopped when you turned of Sync, I wonder if it might have something to do with the devices we have at:

https://account.microsoft.com/devices

or

https://onedrive.live.com/prev?v=DevicesView

These errors stopped a while back for me and, thinking back, it might have been about the time I looked in those places and cleared out old computers/phones that were no longer valid (sync is still turned on for me).

Did this solve your problem?

Sorry this didn't help.

For devices at https://account.microsoft.com/devices, both of my PC and laptop still listed there, i couldn't see any option about syncing, so i turn off the sync setting on both of my devices.

For devices at https://onedrive.live.com/prev?v=DevicesView, because my PC and laptop have onedrive desktop app installed, i can manage the sync setting directly at the desktop app and both of device up to date synced for pictures and documents.

onedrive.live.com still can recognize both of my devices, I can browse both of the devices such of camera rolls folder, desktop folder, documents and anything that i need to be sync.

Screenshot from my onedrive;

My PC and laptop OneDrive app setting;

As long my PC and laptop turned on and let OneDrive fetch files on both devices, files at both devices are up to date synced.

I tried many procedures to solve this issue (ESENT and SettingSyncHost errors), the only thing that worked for me is to delete the Catroot2 folder and all edb*.log files which have access permission problems. the affected software tools are creating the deleted folders and files again with the appropriate access permissions. It is recommended to delete these files from the administrator account and you can close any service or app using these files during deleting them from the task manager.

Another work around for this ESENT error:

Copy edb.log file from C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\SettingSync\metastore\ folder to C:\Windows\System32 folder.

Make sure Administrator and your username (Microsoft account) have full control permission, to make sure, right click the edb.log file, properties, security tab and at group or username box there should be your username and administrators at full control.

Then locate to C:\Windows\System32\sru folder, right click sru folder select properties, click security tab click advanced and click continue, the permission should be Administrators (full control), System (full control) and DPS (full control).

If you do not have permission DPS full control, there should be another ESENT error that will appear every 10 second at event viewer.

To add DPS permission, click Add button, click select principal, type NT SERVICE\DPS at the object names box, click check names and click OK and give Full control permission and click OK.

This step should be reduce ESENT error.
