Fixed it by clicking on the Notification and adding it to Allow an app through Controlled folder access

Thanks for the info. I don't get that notification therefore I was ignorant about what's causing this issue.

Also, Controlled folder access is OFF.

If I turn it ON and try to add and allow an app, the list of recent blocked apps is empty.

I then added PowerShell to alow it but still crashing. Any thoughts?

You must be the luckiest person ever, running a bunch of machines and never having a problem.

Good for you!

So after it crashes again does it show up on the blocked list.

I will look to see how my defender is setup to see if we have any differences.

So if you use the Browse all apps you could navigate to where powershell.exe is and add it that way maybe.

My PowerShell was at    C:\Windows\System32\WindowsPowerShell\v1.0.

Then down the list in that folder is what was added on my system.

Hi EQuito,

I also have no problems running PowerShell. For what it's worth, I doubt that it has anything to do with Defender, for then we would all have the issue. So my question is:

Are you talking about the ISE version or the command version or both?

If the first, have you perhaps something in your profile that is not allowed by Defender?
