MacBook Pro: blue screen & automatic rollback updating from 10586 to 14291

I run Windows 10 on a 2012 Retina MacBook Pro 15", with Apple's Boot Camp drivers installed.

Trying to set up insider preview builds (thus updating straight from 10586 to 14291), the installation seems to complete but then a blue screen flashes up, with the error detail message:

  DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL (AppleMNT.sys)

After a few seconds the machine reboots, reaches the blue screen a second time, then reboots again and rolls back to 10586.

This may be due to an incompatibility with the Apple HFS+ filesystem driver...? (My Mac OS X partition doesn't appear to be mounted under 10586 either, so not sure what's up there.)
