Q: Error 0x80240031 when tring to download new build

I have repeatedly tried to download the new preview build (9860) but I keep getting an error message "failed to download the preview build , please try again later. 0x80240031"

Sorry to know that you are unable to install the new build. Let me try and assist you with the issue.

Known solution for this error code are: Disabling Anti-virus program, resetting Network adapter. You can also change from wireless network to wired network or vice versa and then try to install the update.

Follow these methods and check if it helps:
Method 1:

Temporarily disable the third party security program. (If you have installed any)

Note: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you shouldn't disable your antivirus software. If you have to temporarily disable it to install other software, you should re-enable it as soon as you're done. If you're connected to the Internet or a network while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.


Method 2:

If you are still facing the issue, reset network adapter and check if it helps:
a. Press 'Windows logo key + X key' and choose Command Prompt(Admin).
b. Now, type these command and press Enter after each command.

netsh interface ipv4 install
netsh interface ipv4 reset
netsh winsock reset
ipconfig /flushdns

c. Restart the computer for changes to take effect.
