Windows Image Acquisition (WIA) Service Error 1061 - Cannot Stop this service?

I recently installed Brother MFC-2700DW printer/scanner/fax drivers and can print just fine from my Windows 10 (build 10162) laptop. But I am unable to scan into the PC and as part of its troubleshooting post, it asked me to restart this WIA service. I noted that the service was set to start automatically but was stuck at Pause state. I was unable to resume/restart the service and got the above error message.

I am afraid the above did not work for me

SFC found no violations

DISM is clearly marked for IT specialists - I am a home user

create a new user profile - I have three profiles on the machine are you seriously suggesting recreating all three? Can you at least provide information on how to transfer my data over to the new profile and delete the old one?

This is a really common problem, is there a proper fixed planned?

Hi,

Thank you for posting your reply. We apologize for the delay in response.

I suggest you to check if the issue persists in a Clean Boot state. A clean boot is performed to start Windows by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This helps eliminate software conflicts that occur when you install a program or an update or when you run a program in Windows 10, Windows 8.1, Windows 8, Windows 7, or Windows Vista. You may also troubleshoot or determine what conflict is causing the problem by performing a clean boot.

* Place the computer in a Clean Boot and check if the issue is occurring due to any third party programs.

Follow the link to view the steps to perform Clean Boot:

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/929135

Disclaimer:  Start the computer in normal mode refer the section, "How to reset the computer to start normally after clean boot troubleshooting" from the link above.

Hope this helps. Keep us posted on the status for further assistance.

Hello

Thank you for this. Two things, 1. the MS page you sent me to no longer reflects the link to the ISO file. I gave it a go anyway and 2. got this error message. What do I do now?
