Instructions: Create a bootable ISO file using ESD Image for Windows 10 Build 10049

Please note, only US English is available at this time. I will update this thread with access to other languages. Also note, these links might not be live yet. I am not trying them, because I don't want to eat up my bandwidth by opening the link (metered connection). IE has a tendency to anticipate a download.

If you can't wait on Microsoft to push .ISO files to testers for build 10049, you can create yours now:

Download the desired edition and architecture from the following link:

  • Windows 10 Pro x86 build 10049
  • Windows 10 Pro x64 build 10049
  • Windows 10 Enterprise x86 build 10049
  • Windows 10 Enterprise x64 build 10049

UPDATE: I have decided to retire these links because they are not working. Microsoft is strongly pushing Windows Update for installing build 10049.

The Windows Team is deciding whether to release official ISO files the week of April 12, 2015.

For persons requesting other languages, see the following thread:

I will update this link when they become available.

Download ESD Decrypter 4.7 (esd-decrypter-wimlib-4.7z)

You can use NTLite as an alternative to convert the .ESD file into a .ISO:

https://www.ntlite.com/

Extract esd-decrypter-wimlib-4.7z to a folder.

Put the appropriate .ESD file you downloaded into that same folder.

Right click decrypt file in the same folder and click Run as administrator

Select option 1

Hit Enter

Wait

When complete, burn to a blank DVD or create a bootable copy on a USB thumbdrive.

See article for instructions how to do that.

Persons have recommended using Rufus for best results when creating a bootable copy on a USB thumb drive.

Waiting for the spanish version

Try using the Windows 10 ESD DB to locate your language.

Then copy:

http://b1.download.windowsupdate.com/c/updt/2015/03/

adding File_Name followed by Hash.

10049.0.150325-1700.fbl_impressive_CLIENTPRO_RET_x64fre_es-es.esd

105C492C3F763B75E3BB8BF2C0E6082B4DF09A6F

Move .ESD to end of URL

Separate language and hash with underscore

Doesn't work

Hi,

I'm trying to download the 10049 esd file for x64 Pro, but that link does not seem to work anymore...

Hi Andre--

What about using this process on the install.esd file that lands in the c:\$Windows.~BT directory ?  It created an .iso file for me called en_windows_10_enterprise_10049_x64_dvd.iso but I am having difficulty creating the bootable USB with rufus-- threw an error twice about not being able to extract from the ISO.

Any thoughts ?

M. Kitty

Try using 7-zip to extract the iso to your flash drive.

I did it the way you are suggesting, but for the Windows 10 Pro Build 10049.  I used the Windows 7 USB DVD Download Tool to create the USB stick from the ISO and it worked to install 10049 on another computer.
