Realtek HD ALC892 - DTS Connect not working

I cannot activate the DTS Connect output. If I choose it and try to play the test tone, I receive an error: "Error during playback" (German: "Fehler bei der Wiedergabe") or "This device doesn't support that sound format".

Settings:

DTS + DD + 48,8 khz activated and working with 2 channels, 16 Bit, 44.100hz.

"Virtual Sorrund" has no effect.

Using the standard driver that came with build 10041 / Windows Update, not the Realtek drivers.

@Cali

Glad you found the "problem". Funny how a solution can be the last place you'd think to look. That's why these forums are so effective - someone looks at the problem from a different perspective.

In general a discrete sound card always sounds better than an on-board solution so the switch back to the Creative may be a good move. I don't know the status of the Creative/Windows 10 drivers but given a good driver the sound will probably be better.

On the other hand there are hacked drivers available for the Realtek chips which allow Dolby Digital vs DTS if you want to go that direction. Just Google (or Bing :-) Realtek Dolby DTS hack.

Good luck,

Victor

So you need to run the DTS to be a beta tester and download a new build of Windows Update? OK I understand? . And you can not let just fixa normal versions of Windows.

Yeah, unfortunately, that is about the truth of it. Once Microsoft gets a warm and fuzzy feeling this monster is fixed, then they will release a general update for the rest of us. Otherwise, you'll have to be in the insider group to get the fix sooner than the rest of us. However, on the bright side, I have been reading very favorable reports and responses to this issue from many forums and threads that are audio related and that includes posts that are audio related here on MS support forums. That's a positive thing... right John?

Any thought as to how long it will be before a general release for end-users to get the fix?

Don't back down when you are right!

Win 10 Asus Z170-A

My little DTS test:

DTS Movies with VLC: DTS works fine

Dying Light: DTS works fine

Fallout 3 : DTS works fine

Mettal Gear 5: rear not working...why?

Day Z: rear nor working....why?

Far Cry 4: DTS not working, no sound ingame. Only sound in stereo mode.

Has anybody the same problem in Far Cry?
I've read that the problem is Ubisoft.

Yes, I'm seeing the same thing i.e. solid positive feedback on this fix. Someone even took the time to send me that comment via the Windows Feedback app. :-)

My thinking at this point is that the fix will be part of the "Threshold 2" release, due out soon. I don't have a solid date that I can share, though the media has been speculating a great deal on the subject. :-)

Victor,

Build 10565, the DTS Connect / DTS Interactive/ DTS Neo:pc  is working well in my Asus Z97-A.

But, going to properties windows Realtek Digital Output -> Supported formats -> DTS Audio, does not work? Since my receiver supports DTS audio, connected by Digital Output (coaxial).
You could help me know what might be wrong?

My name is Victor too.

Thank you

John, the fix works beautifully for me in all modes.

I wanted to make sure I said thank you....I gave you a lot of grief over this, and I want you to know I appreciate the efforts you and your team made to get this done.

It was a long time coming....but y'all came through.

BZ, my friend! (Navy speak for "well done.")

Hey everybody, I have been following this thread for quite some time now.

In my adventures to understand how to achieve the best possible sound for my HTPC i came across this link:

http://www.dolby.com/us/en/technologies/dolby-digital-plus.html

Now, Dolby claims to have built their Dolby Digital Plus audio into Windows 10. Is this purely the software side? Or do we need specific hardware for windows 10 to output that codec?

Does the lack of surround somehow relate to this, and will the fix enable this surround codec?

In all honesty, I just want to make sure that when we do get a fix for surround in windows 10, that I can get any number of audio channels that either my sound card, or the software (even the OS) can support.

In this technological age, I see no reason why I can't be allowed to have a Dolby Atmos theater ran from my computer and its Blu-ray player.

Thanks for all your hard work!
