No Windows Hello for my laptop

My Elitebook 8540W has a Validity VFS451 finger reader. YAY for me.

After my Win7 to Windows 10 upgrade, it was recognized and a driver was installed. But, no Windows Hello is present in the Settings>Account>Sign-in options.  Looking at Device Manager I RT click on the "Validity Sensor" and hit properties>Events tab. In the Information dialog box it says "Device USB\VID_138A&PID_0007\2113179a6400 requires further installation."

What does that mean? What further installation?   I have Driver and Windows....  What else is needed?  The finger reader worked perfectly in Windows 7. Now that I upgraded, Windows 10 is playing dumb? This is a very popular finger reader.

Any ideas here?

Same here, worked perfectly on 7 and won't work on 10. Would like a resolve to this issue.

Just to let you know.

I found a WBF driver that works ALL the time. :-)  Here is the URL for this HP VFS451 driver. It has many other drivers for Validity fingerprint devices.

It is a 2012 driver. But, the VFS541 driver works great in Win10.

http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp58501-59000/sp58900.exe

The install does not recognize windows 10, so don't even try. You must extract the softpaq contents to a folder with Winzip or 7zip.

Uninstall any pre-existing Validity fingerprint DDK and/or drivers before doing these steps.

This is what I did to installed the driver:

1. Install WBFDDKSetup.exe
2. From Device Manager, update Validity VFS451 driver from the proper extraction folder.
3. Go to Settings>Accounts>Sign-in Options
4. Create a PIN (required for fingerprint)
5. Under "Windows Hello", Add your fingerprints.

DONE!

Good luck!
