Asus t100ha With Windows 10 Camera Upside Down

I have a asus t100 ha windows 10 tablet that I notice when I go to take a video or picture on most 3rd party apps the camera is upside down. If I use windows camera its fine. When I use instapic, or try a video call on Facebook on chrome or google hangouts the camera is upside down

how can I fix this? I checked my camera driver the Intel (R) AVStream Camera, updated it but still the video is upside down. I'm running the anniversary update as well.

Hi Sed,

If you are facing this issue in other applications as well, then it could be due to corrupt webcam driver or a hardware fault. I would suggest you to try these steps and check:

Method 1:

Hardware and devices troubleshooter

This built-in troubleshooter can detect and fix most of the incorrect settings and errors that could cause issues with hardware devices. Refer to these steps to run this troubleshooter:

  • Press Windows key +F to bring up the search Charms bar.
  • Type Troubleshooter and press enter; click on the Settings tab below the search box.
  • Click on the Find and Fix problems tile and then click on the view all button the left panel.
  • Click on the hardware and devices troubleshooter and run it.

Method 2:

First uninstall and reinstall the camera drivers. Here are the steps to uninstall drivers,

  • Press Windows key + R key and go to Run.
  • Type devmgmt.msc.
  • Right click on the camera drivers and Uninstall it.
  • Then I would suggest you to install the latest webcam driver from the manufacturer’s website and check.

Hope it helps.

Thank & Regards,

SuJata Moktan.

You should look at this support page at ASUS it describes how to find the information in device manager to get the correct driver for your  camera. It is a long Page but it has very good detail.

Good Luck :)

Does the Tablet support full rotation?

If it does, just turn the tablet 180degrees, ie upside down.

I guess that would be a way to find out if it does support rotation

Hi SuJata. Thanks for the info. I also just purchased an Asus T100HA and have the same exact video upside down issue in Skype. Using the Windows camera app shows the video correctly. In Device Manager under Imaging devices, it shows the Intel(R) AVStream Camera. I uninstalled it and even deleted the driver. After a restart, Windows 10 reinstalled the device and I updated the driver within Device Manager. Still the same.

In looking at Asus' FAQ concerning this issue (that Calvin provided a link in a different reply), I performed a driver search and there is none for this camera. All Asus has is a software filter for the camera, but no specific driver. Intel web site also shows no driver for the AVStream Camera.

I submitted a ticket to Asus technical support, but I have not heard back on a remedy.

Any other suggestion would be appreciated.

Hi Lawrence. Physicially rotating the tablet the other way is not realistic when the keyboard-dock is attached. I use my Asus T100HA with the keyboard and they are in a folio case.

The funny thing is that the rear camera video shows correctly. So I could change the camera during my Skype video to the rear camera, but that would still be awkward since I then would need a mirror to view the screen of the other person who I am chatting.

When I reinstalled my drivers it made both cameras upside down for me. I love the tablet but those are big issues for me. Everywhere I looked no solution. The only other thing I saw that I didn't try was updating the bios

Hello,

This is a known issue on some Asus laptops. Please look at the (rather long) thread here: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/insider/forum/insider_wintp-insider_devices/asus-built-in-camera-displays-upside-down-win-10/4fa5fc81-4a47-403f-b8bf-abaa6f607596

The gist is, you might need an older Windows 7 driver for your camera

Thanks,

Rohan
