Andy Android doesn't start on windows 10

I have upgraded my OS from Windows 7 x64 SP1 to Windows 10 x64. All programs operate under the new Windows except Andy Android Emulator, I've uninstalled and reinstalled it but I get the same error message:

'Unable to launch VM Process: The virtual machine 'andy' has terminated unexpectedly during startup with exit code - 1073741819 (0xc0000005)'

Please I need your help. Thanks!!

Hi,

Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

Did you try running the application in safe mode? If not, I would suggest you try it and see if the problem persists.

If the problem doesn't persist I would suggest you do a clean boot.

Method 1:

To go to Safe mode follow the steps below:
a. Click on Windows key, and in the Power Options click on Restart while pressing the shift key.
b. A blue screen will appear with a few options.
Click on Troubleshoot > Advanced Settings > Startup Settings > Restart.
c. Your system will automatically restart, press 4 or F4 key to go to the Safe Mode.
If you do not face the same issue in the safe mode, try doing a clean boot

To disable all non-Microsoft services consult the article called Clean Boot (applies to windows 10 as well).

Follow: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/929135

Note:After troubleshooting, refer to this section "How to reset the computer to start normally after clean boot troubleshooting"

Hope this helps. Please reply if you have further related queries.

Regards,

Jesinta Rozario

This is because the Hyper-V Virtual process and hence multiple desktop the does not appear in Windows 10 home, but in Windows 10 Professional.

Hyper V was rewritten in Win 10, so getting Win 10 Professional is no

guarantee that it will work. The virtual machine 'andy' was coded specifically to use win 7.1.

There is a check in Task manager CPU which will show VM (Virtualisation:) enabled

The software development package VS 2015 RC has similar problems, which disappear when running in Professional version.

On testing Andy emulator 0.44 I got an error message. This seems to conflict with Hyper-V where I have to turn this off

You must load the latest version and play with Bios?.

I already unistalled Andy and was trying to reinstall; it looks like that is a waste of time.

In that case. is there an Android emulator that works with Windows 10?

NOW THE ANSWER to question

I have upgraded my OS from Windows 7 x64 SP1 to Windows 10 x64. All programs operate under the new Windows except Andy Android Emulator, I've uninstalled and reinstalled it but I get the same error message:

'Unable to launch VM Process: The virtual machine 'andy' has terminated unexpectedly during startup with exit code - 1073741819 (0xc0000005)'

This is because the Hyper-V Virtual process and hence multiple desktop the does not appear in Windows 10 home, but in Windows 10 Professional.

THIS ERROR IS WRONG!!!

SHOULD SAY

Hyper-V was must be DISABLED by unticking the boxes. The message above is misleading and that's what it means

Check the state of you virtual settings (Intel ) from the Command prompt using "run as Administrator. Type the command "systeminfo". Check the bottom lines match this.

If a message about Hyper visor appears DISABLE Hyper-V as described above

Now run the downloaded file as Administrator, "Andy_Android_Emulator_v44_10.exe"

This will ask for Virtual Box to be installed. Click install, as you are "Run as Administrator"

The installation will complete

Click "Finished" to complete. Now run the "Oracle Virtual Box", In "Recently Added" list in Windows 10 "Run as Administrator".

and you need to click green Start at the top of Virtual Box.

Cautions and Summary

If this is simply a test and you intend to remove Oracle Virtual box AND Andy.

Make sure you have a MANUAL SYSTEM RESTORE point as you will need it to make your machine Hyper-V compatible again.

WARNING

The Oracle Virtual Box modifies and deletes many shared file and basically disables Hyper-V.

You MUST USE MANUAL system CHECKPOINT and restore as virtual box.

This system will   NOT usable for Visual Studio 2015 RC Android emulator!!!

Don't install for a laugh, as you will have to install Windows 10 Professional and probably Windows 7.1 Ultimate x64 to retrieve your activation licence before 29th July 2016

Andy works with 10240 RTM and build TP 10532 amazingly.

Its taken a few months to get the answer but I think its worth it, especially as it shows how to correctly install Oracle Virtual Box

I made last version of Andy to run under Windows10 by editing permissions on C:\Program Files\Andy.

My Administrator user was able to run Andy installation, but unprivileged user were not able to start Andy.

I got it running for my son (unprivileged kid account) by giving him all the permissions on  on C:\Program Files\Andy directory.

Hope this helps.

Its a problem to many, even I faced this issue. But it has a simple solution.

When you upgrade from Windows 7 or 8.x to Windows 10, Virtualization gets disabled gets disabled in the BIOS settings of your pc and without it, apps like VirtualBox and VMware which AndyOS uses to run could not work.

To solve this problem, just enable Virtualization in your system's BIOS settings and you are good to go!!!!!
