Grand Theft Auto 4 on Windows 10

Hello

I have a problem with Grand Theft Auto IV on Windows 10 TP. When I want to start the game its show me this error:

http://scr.hu/32ok/8b2i7

I read on Internet I should to install newest Visual C++ Packages, so I install this version: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=40784, but this don't fix my problem. I try to reistall GTA and C++ too but it couldn't resolve this problem.

Does anyone have any suggestions how to solve this?

Regards

Hi,

Thank you for your interest in updating to Windows 10 Technical Preview.

It could be possible that the game is not compatible with the new Windows. Let us try to install the game in Compatibility Mode and check if it helps:

First, uninstall the game.

Now, to install in compatibility mode, follow these steps:

a. Locate the executable file (.exe file) of the game.
b. Right-click the file, and then click Properties.
c. In the Package Name Properties dialog box, click the Compatibility tab.
d. Click to select the Run this program in compatibility mode for check box, click Windows 8 with which it is compatible with in the Run this program in compatibility mode for list, and then click OK.
e. Double-click the executable file to start the installation program.

Let us know if it helps. If you have further queries, we will be happy to help.

ive got mine running...try if not the win 8 compat. then go for 7...anything prior to that id chose any whether xp or vista in sp1 modes....slue of issues after u install too...once its asking you for social club sign in...u should do so if u have one..if not look up this website before you do....  http://www.rockstargames.com/downloads#/?collection=9   before u run the game youll need to update gta iv to 1.0.7.0 unless uve got the episodes for liberty city full install in which your gonna wanna try the 1.2...

-another good thing to try is when you set compatibility to run the exe as admin by either right clicking selecting admin..or within the properties window...

-note that you shouldnt need an account with socialclub as the game underwent updates to rid it.

-another note----once the game creates a shortcut after you ran from finishing install..,

if you cannot run the game again..

youll just need to switch your applications which load the game itself..

for this:

right click the shortcut and open file location

then.. see whether it has highlighted the application..

which should be ...LaunchGTAIV...like in my case with 1.0.7.0

--u can also just right click your shourtcut ---properties

--and add

"LaunchGTAIV.exe"

--at the end of your target replacing anything else that wasnt working as an exe target...

--I recommend to also add a space after your target quotes and type in:

-nomemrestrict -norestrictions

to help with graphics settings

some over ones can be used too like:

-percentvidmem 100

-novblank

-availablevidmem (whatever ur graphics discreet size in Gb or Mb digits alone)

these are all called game parameters and you can find many for most games

some altering resolution and some even choosing directx levels...

let me know how it goes...

So the install went through atleast.. I only see now the atl80 issue... Try

http://pcsupport.about.com/od/findbyerrormessage/a/atl80-dll-not-found-missing-error.htm

give runs at the different GTA launcher apps nd not just the one were trying to use..

at best you should "cold boot" or shutdown and start up ur pc / no restart full shutdown,

once loged in open:

---windows power shell

from start menu -right click

as admin

then type

sfc / scannow

This will chek windows integrity

its all in the likes of measuring your setup...

somehow maybe a corrupted file was hit or a setting made on your end

could have impacted your system...

i always shoot to create a brand new user in cases where i cannot fix and making sure to make

this user administrator..but before you go and create a new user to try...

http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/3047-sfc-scannow-command-run-windows-8-a.html

this page will in depth you with running sfc from boot.

a good thing to also check before completing the page read is its advice to enable:

-Windows Modules Installer to manual

for this type in start search or hit Win key r

-Services.msc

look up the service

-Windows Modules Installer

double click it and look for

-start up type in the general tab

set it to manual if not already set..

if it shows it is not running hit the start to initiate to make sure it will..otherwise show us if issues,

check to see that Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth  link on the page too

http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/26512-dism-fixing-component-store-corruption-windows-8-a.html

this can help if by any reason not only can you not run sfc but that ur repairs are correct in integrity..

if you are in 64bits remember you have to install both, C++ redist for x86 and C++ redist for x64.

Visual Studio is not needed! only the redistributables are needed.
