Hi Sumit,

I just wanted to add onto this post because without access to the start button you cannot search for the Feedback Hub. I also just received the beta track update and am unable to open the start menu. I am able to open the Settings window through the Taskbar Settings but when you search there for Feedback Hub nothing comes up. So currently I have found no way to provide feedback. I can also only open applications pinned on my taskbar since I cannot open the start menu.

Thanks,

Ryan

Hi Ryan,

Maybe I have a solution for that. In my case, i still see the Windows 10 taskbar after upgrading to build 22000.100 on Beta Channel, and it makes start button function not working. It happened maybe because before all this I was in Dev Channel and did a rollback.

So for the solution, you need to uninstall the update KB5004300, after uninstalling, it should prompt you to restart. When your PC finishes restarting, you'll get a Windows 11 taskbar and the Start button function will work, but the Settings menu will be Windows 10 style. Now all you need is to go back to windows update, check for updates and reinstall KB5004300, and you should have everything updated to Windows 11.

You can uninstall an update by going to Settings>Windows Update>Update history>Uninstall update (Under Related settings).

After upgrading to win 11, i found, that start menu and some other popups (such as account management, sounds etc) don't work (no reaction on click, some reaction on right button). I rollback to win10, wait to the next version (132), install it and found the same problems. And I never got KB5004300.

In my case solution was:

1) Signing up with local account (in my case windows make local account)

2) Restart, login with local account (start menu still don't work, microsoft account not signed, signing from settings/account doesn't work).

3) Making new local account (Administrator)

4) Restart, login with new local account (start menu work, but desktop clear)

5) Restart, login with old account

6) Copy AppData, desktop, documents, etc from old local account to the new one. Overwrite all, skip all missing files

7) Restart, login with new local account. All works fine, all data and preferences transferred  (except putty and winscp settings) Also, i refill the taskbar by opening programs and pin them.

8) Sign up microsoft account, restart, login with microsoft account

9) Remove old local account

with nvme as system disk, all operations takes about 30 min (my profile about 40 Gb size)

What if there is no update KB5004300?

Have you checked for updates lately?

This thread dates back to August build 22000.100, the issue has long been fixed since then.

We are up to build 22000.348 now. 😉
