Sandbox Failed to Load

Am I the only one that the last update (Build 18334.1) broke the Sandbox again? This time it won't load and provides this error "Sandbox failed to Start. Additional Information is available in the Hyper-V Compute/Worker event logs.

From the Error logs I see Critical error:

'Virtual Machine' has encountered a fatal error.  The guest operating system reported that it failed with the following error codes: ErrorCode0: 0x4E, ErrorCode1: 0x7, ErrorCode2: 0xF7241, ErrorCode3: 0x1, ErrorCode4: 0x0.  If the problem persists, contact Product Support for the guest operating system.

Anybody have any ideas? Thanx

Hi Zaya,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft community forums.

Upon researching, I see that the issues regarding Sandbox launching was addressed in the Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 18334 . You may want to disable and re-enable Windows Sandbox to see if it works.

Disable and enable the Sandbox:

  • Press ‘Win + R’ keys on the keyboard together to open the run dialog box and type the following into the run box: appwiz.cpl

  • In the left pane, click on Turn Windows features On or Off.

  • Locate Windows Sandbox, uncheck it, and reboot the machine.

  • Once the machine restarts, navigate to Turn Windows features On or Off, locate Windows Sandbox and enable it to see if it works.

If you are still encountering launch issues after re-enabling, please log feedback about it in the Feedback Hub, so that our developer team can have a look into it and push a fix soon. The Feedback Hub app lets you tell Microsoft about any problems you run in to while using Windows 10 and send suggestions to help us improve your Windows experience.

Hope it answers.

Regards,

Same problem here except that I don't get any error codes but error explanation. Error explanation is translated into English.

This happened today after I checked Sandbox against your post. Sanbox was working previously in this build.

Recently I installed two apps from Microsoft Store: One is iTunes and the other is Whatsapp desktop app. If these two apps did not cause the issue, then a Windows Defender defn update might have caused it.

What else could it be ?

Please be advised that I uninstalled Windows Sandbox, rebooted my desktop computer and re-installed Windows Sandbox.

The result is: Windows Sandbox does not start. It gives me the same error.

Not sure if this is the main cause but appears it is looking for a file from Windows.old which I have deleted.

Thank you for the explanation.

I would expect that uninstalling Windows Sandbox and re-installing it would clear all references to its previous relations with the previous build.

Apparently, there seem to be references remaining in some places.
