that option above is missing in the latest paint 3D preview update. (version 1.1701.12017.0) including the option to share to remix3d.com. I'm not sure why it's gone but I don't have the line tool anymore.

Even if you can draw straight lines it can only be done on the canvas. My interpretation of drawing an object (in a 3D program) is that it uses all XYZ axes, otherwise it is just a picture.

Latest update only fixed the sharing button, did not put back the feature talked about above.

Same for me as well, no line tool...

I've had to make very thin rectangles to work around it but that doesn't seem like the intended method to draw a simple straight line, especially in a program that's the successor to MS Paint.

I have the same paint 3d version. I found in other web page that you can draw a line by holding shift while drawing it and it works.
It would be good to rotate the line that is draw at any time as it is done in Visio.

Hope that helps!

I tried holding shift whilst drawing a line and it's straight, but always go off at 45 degree angle, which ever direction I draw in. Because of the line drawing tool, I am having to use both original Paint - then 3D paint to do what I need to do, which is incredibly time consuming. I hope MS add it at the next update.
