Not Getting Any Preview Builds After Turning on Windows Insider

Hello,

For quite some time I used Windows 10 Pro without linking a Microsoft account. I finally did so, so that I could sign up as a Windows Insider and get the fast preview builds. I have been on the fast ring for weeks now and in that time have not received a single preview build. I did much googling about this and tried many suggestions such as:

Switching to slow ring, rebooting, switching back to fast, rebooting

Deleting the contents of "C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download" and restarting several times

Running the Windows Update Diagnostic Tool (http://download.microsoft.com/download/F/E/7/FE74974A-9029-41A0-9EB2-9CCE3FC20B99/WindowsUpdateDiagnostic.diagcab)

Switching off Insider Builds completely, rebooting, and turning them back on.

The "Feedback Hub" app shows that I am currently on version: "rs1_release_inmarket 14393"

Currently my "Windows Insider Program" screen looks like this:

I am getting quite frustrated at this point because I really want to test out the bleeding edge versions of the Windows Subsystem For Linux, but as stated am not getting any preview updates what-so-ever.

I know there is a potential remedy that involves downloading a sketchy .ESD file from a Russian file uploading/download service, running an ESD Decrypter tool on it to get an ISO and run that ISO, but I really want to avoid that if at all possible because it is not officially supported nor provided by Microsoft.

I will provide any and all information necessary to resolve this issue.

Check this first;
Right click Start, click on Run and enter regedit and hit enter.  This takes you to the registry.

Navigate to Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsSelfHost\Applicability

Under EnablePreviewBuild change the Dword to 2

Also if under Applicability there is RecoveredFrom.  You will find a build number.  Change the Dword to 0

Then get out, reboot, and go to Settings, Updates, Check for updates.

First of all, thanks for the suggestion and help.

I set the Applicability registry entry to 2 (I assume hexadecimal? as 2 in base 10 is not equal to 2 in base 16 and you did not specify). There was no "Recovered From" entry.

I then rebooted my machine and checked for updates, but still nothing new was found.

Well, yes, I understand, but when I go to edit a DWORD value in the registry editor it asks if I want to enter the value in hexadecimal or decimal :)

Here is a picture of what I mean:

If you looked at the Data field it was already there and you did not need to change.
It showed that it was Hex

Right...I just wanted to confirm that by "2" you meant hexadecimal...anyways, it didn't fix it.

Going back to your original post you said that it said you were in 14393 but what are the stuf after that, 14393.xxx.

Have you done the updates to get to 14393.351?

If you look on the forum you can find the ISO of 14931 Insider build.

You might update from there.
