Microsoft Edge Favorites display pane width in latest Windows 10 update

I have Windows 10 on my laptop and it performed a bug update last night. The width of the favorites pane in Microsoft Edge App is not way too wide and I cannot find a way to adjust this. The Favorites panel is taking up too much real estate on my screen now.

The width is not configurable... but you can change the width of the very left part (in darker grey) to just show the icons.  This will decrease the overall width by about 10-20%

This is unacceptable!!! Why would your engineers even think that this is a idea?? Your Quality department should have caught this prior to the updates release and never have allowed this. Horrible idea and decision on your end. The panel is taking up about 30% of my scree now instead of 10-15% like I want and had before.

Please have your engineers write an update to fix this and give customers the freedom to adjust this.

Absolutely ridiculous!!!

Sounds like you are using it pinned.  Instead you should bring it up when you need it (e.g. press Ctrl-i, same as IE) use it unpinned and then it will disappear until you bring it up again.  Then it won't matter how big it is.

I agree...…..this is absolutely ridiculous!!!

The favorites bar now takes up 1/3 of my screen and now the navigation view is on the side......I liked it where it was.  Can I change this?????????

Also, having to open up and close the favorites pane every time I want to surf different websites is not an answer.

Changing things just to be changing things is not progress.  Don't you try out these changes before you make them?  How about user focus groups of ordinary users???

Come on, you have got to be able to do better!

This is terrible, I like to have my Favourites pinned up all the time and to choose a Favourite I don't need to see them taking up 1/3 of my screen. I use different Favourites regularly not having my Faves pinned all the time would actually be more annoying than the space they are now taking up.

I will put up with this but sorry Microsoft big fail....please fix and let me customise the width again.

Hello Samantha,

I understand that the recent changes to Microsoft Edge can affect productivity and usability of the app. This is not an experience we want you to have when browsing the Internet. That being said, I encourage you to submit a feedback to our engineers using the Feedback Hub. You can either vote on an existing submission or submit a new issue. When you submit a feedback item we gather additional details and information about your issue that will help determine what’s causing it and address it. Feedback items regularly receive Microsoft responses on the submissions in the Feedback app so you can see what we are doing about your feedback. Please revisit frequently to see the status of your feedback items.

For more information on Feedback Hub, see our support article and YouTube video.

In order to submit new feedback, please follow these steps:

  1. On a Windows 10 device, search for “Feedback Hub” in Cortana search, then launch the app.
  2. Navigate to Feedback in the left menu, then press + Add new feedback.
  3. Select the Problem, and share any details you think are relevant, and choose an appropriate category and subcategory.
  1. Important: If possible, reproduce the problem(s) after clicking Begin monitoring (or Start capture) near the end of the form; Stop monitoring when you’re done.
  1. Once you’ve completed the form and monitoring, click Submit.
  2. Click Continue using Feedback Hub.
  3. Click My feedback at the top, then find the item you submitted (it may take a while to appear).
  4. Open the item you submitted, then click Share.
  5. Click Copy link, then paste the link here in your response (it will look like https://aka.ms/<unique> link).

I found this but a small reduction from half the screen to 30 percent is not acceptable. In the old version you could set the width yourself. What a shame it has gone. i do not use Chrome because I want to be able to put my favourites on the side. This makes that impossible.

Thanks for the link but this must be addressed. it is ridiculous to have to click on and off the favourite bar everytime you want to click on a favourite. The reason i use Edge and not Chrome is because Edge gave me the option to put the Favourite bar on the side, leaving more real estate on the screen. If that has now gone I may switch. Pity.

I hope we can adjust the width soon again as used to be the case with the old Edge

I agree.  I want the Favoites Panel to always show, but not take up 33% of the screen.  I constantly jump from webpage to webpage doing research.  Email cannot always be read.  Pictures on certain webpages are shrunk way down.  This was not a problem in the past and should easily be a quick fix.

Me too. It's horrendous. Microsoft must be able to fix it, because it was fine until the bug update this evening. Please sort this!!!!
