Lost multi-touch + pen support after latest win+firmware upgrade

I'm using Surface Laptop i5. Few days ago updated to Windows 10.0.18362.145 (x64).

I also signed up to Windows insider program, slow ring - so I may have newer driver installed but haven't found yet.

Now, I lost pen support and multi-touch support on the touch screen though touch pad still works.

System info reported by Windows displays [Pen and Touch] = [Single Touch Support].

Afterwards I failed to fix issue by installing updated drivers/firmware for my laptop using SurfaceLaptop_Win10_18362_1901508_0.MSI.

Multiple times I removed HID-compliant touch; rebooted; and waited for Windows to reinstall that driver - all to no avail.

So it looks like misconfig in display driver setup or incorrect touch display driver.

Any ideas on how to get my multi-touch + pen support back?

Hi Mic,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

The issue could be because of the corrupt or badly installed drivers. I suggest you to disable and re-enable the Intel® Precise Touch Device to see if it helps.

  • Right click the Windows icon on the taskbar and choose Device Manager.

  • Expand Human Interface Devices, right click on Intel® Precise Touch Device and Disable the same.

  • Exit Device Manager, reboot the machine and navigate to the above location.

  • Enable Intel® Precise Touch Device to see if it works.

If the issue persists, you may try the methods listed in Standard touchscreen troubleshooting and see if it helps.

  • Restoring won’t affect your personal files, but it will remove apps, drivers, and updates installed after the restore point was made.

  • Reset to factory defaults will result in the loss of data and applications installed on the machine. You may take a backup of the data before Reset.
