All,
There will likely be some questions about the install of the new 10536.1004 build, so I wanted to create this thread to clarify the update process for this build.
Users on 8.1:
- You will jump directly to the new build. 8.1 -> 10.0.10536.1004
Users on Win10 Build 10536.1003:
- A very small group of users received the .1003 build we didn't officially release last Friday. This build was pulled back because of an update bug that prevents users from installing newer builds. If you are on this build and your device scans for the .1004 build, you will see error 8018830f on your device. Unfortunately, you will need to use the Windows Phone Recovery Tool (WPRT)) and flash back to 8.1.
Users on Win10 Build 10512:
- You will see two hops to get to build 10.0.10536.1004.
First update screen will show two interim builds coming down (10514 and 10536.1000).
Once that portion of the install completes, you'll get a second install showing build 10536.1004. This is the "landing" build and when this portion of the install is finished, you'll be on the newest build.
Going through this process will take you a bit longer to get to the newest build, but with the changes and bug fixes, it'll be worth the effort. It also helps us gain testing coverage on multi-hop updates.
Please post up any questions and be sure to share your feedback on the build via the Feedback app!
Thank you as always Insiders!
- Jason
