Build 27823.1000, DELL Support Assist fails with exception code 0xc000027b.

This problem started on April 11, 2025 on multiple machines. It was not failing before with the same version of Support Assist.

Same version of Dell Support Assist still works fine with other Windows 11 Builds. The problem started on April 11, 2025, only with Canary Build 27823.1000.

Tried to install newer version 4.8.2.29006 but failed with the same error on Canary 27823.1000. 🤷‍♂️

I was having lots of Dell errors on the Reliability Monitor for about 2 months and others on Reddit and other sites were also having these errors. I deleted all Dell programs and now only have an occasional error showing in the Reliability Monitor usually from the Store. I only reinstall the Dell programs after a clean install to update drivers and Dell software and then delete the Dell programs with no more Dell errors in the Reliability Monitor. The following article gives more detail.

I never had any problem with Dell Support assist, till April 11, and only on Canary Build 27823.

MS changed something that is causing that specific exception code 0xc000027b.

I also opened a case with Dell.

This is from another user, but my Reliability Monitor looked like this for 2 months and I even uninstalled and reinstalled Dell Support Assistant several times even with their updated version and still had the Dell errors, so I no longer keep the Dell Support Assistant installed permanently.

This is what my Reliability Monitor looks like today, No Dell errors!!

It doesn't matter.

MS definitely changed something on April 11 to cause this new problem.

It only started to happen with Build 27823, no problems at all with any other Build. 😝😵‍💫🤬🤷‍♂️

"I also opened a case with Dell"

Let me know when you hear from Dell. This laptop is 5 years old.

Different error after updating Dell support assist to version 4.8.2.

With Canary Build 27823.1000, keeps crashing regardless of what I try.

Now this, regardless of how many times I reboot. 🤬🤷‍♂️

This is with Build 26100.3902. It ran fine one time after the update, but not anymore.

It eventually worked on this Build 26100.3902 and other 24H2 Builds doing a retry without rebooting. 😵‍💫🤷‍♂️

I tried a clean install of Build 27823.1000 and after that installed Dell Support Assist 4.8.2.

Here is the error again. You can see that the error is the same on SupportAssistClientUI.exe Version 4.3.0.0 even if the Faulting Application is a higher version that the one showing on the 1st post, 4.8.1.0 versus 4.6.2.0 that was showing on the original event viewer before updating the Dell Support Assist from Version 4.6.3 to the latest Version 4.8.2.

The problem started on April 11, 2025, only on Canary Build 27823.

Something was definitely changed on Canary Build 27823 that causes the Dell App to crash. 😵‍💫🤷‍♂️
