Available Printer Memory - Unable to change

I have an HP printer attached to my system via USB.  The last update to 10074 lost it.  It has been re-added to the system and set as the default printer.  However I am unable to change it's available memory via the Control Panel.  In the Printer Properties/Device Settings, all the selectable items are "Greyed-out" and not selectable.

How do I change the Available Printer Memory ??  ( I have been able to do this in previous builds)

Hi Eric Strom,

Welcome to Microsoft Community. Your interest in Windows 10 Technical Preview is much appreciated.

Since Windows 10 Technical Preview is still in development stage (testing environment), certain features might not work in the usual manner. Hence you may face some issue with Windows 10.We are looking forward to improve it.

The issue may cause due to some incorrect permission settings or some network settings. I would suggest you to try these methods and check.

Method 1: Change permissions

Check if your user account has permission to print and manage the printer. Refer these steps:

  1. Press Windows key +C, select control panel.
  2. Under Hardware and devices, select view devices and printers.
  3. Locate your printer and right click.
  4. Click on the Printer properties from the menu and select security tab.
  5. Select your user account name from the list of user accounts.
  6. Make sure that all the check boxes against the permissions are marked as “Allow”.

Method 2: Troubleshooter

Run the built-in Printer troubleshooter to fix any errors with the printer settings. Refer these steps:

  1. Press Windows key +X, select Control panel
  2. Change the view by option on the top right to Large icons
  3. Click on troubleshooting and click on the view all option on the left panel
  4. Run the Printer troubleshooter.

Method 3:

Try to remove the printer and then restart the computer.

Open Printers by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking Hardware and Devices, and then clicking Device and Printers.

Right-click the printer that you want to remove device

If you can't delete the printer, right-click it again, click Run as administrator, and then click Delete.  If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

Restart the computer.

Also try to update the latest drivers for the printer from the manufacturer’s website.

Method 4: Re-install the printer

If the permission settings and the network settings are set correctly and yet you are facing this issue, I would suggest uninstall and re-install the printer and check. You can right click on the printer icon from the devices and printers window, right click and select “remove this device”. Refer this link to install the printer again:
