18995.1 How can I clear the "Retry" button from previous error and load the new fast ring build?

I am hesitant to play around with other settings I don't completely understand, so I am inclined to wait for next week's build and see if the error retry button goes away?

18990.1 Error 0x8007023e is still present with a retry button, and the previous work-around of pausing is greyed out.  I would like to stay current with this week's build, but don't see a clear way around the error that seemed to occur during checking for updates.  Any help here?

I pressed the Pause Updates button, then pressed it again to re-enable updates, and Windows Update started working again.

Go into Windows Update and choose the Advanced

Options. You can set the Pause Updates for only 1 day.

Once the 1 day is up, manually check for Defender

Definition update, then go back to WU and try to get

the build again.

Thank you,

I have done that earlier today when I knew a new build was out, I'll check again tomorrow.

Thanks, I have rebooted and updated Defender definitions, but the error is still persistent.  My PC has Malwarebytes running alongside Defender and they have gotten along for years, but maybe something has changed?  I've also set updates to pause until tomorrow, so maybe that will do the trick, will see in the morning.
