Shockwave Flash Object Add-On Breaks Text Cursor

I was noticing that on some websites (forums), the cursor was not displaying correctly in text boxes. It doesn't animate (flash) correctly, and is invisible most of the time, thus making editing text extremely difficult.

This forum for example: http://www.overclock.net/ - if I go to post a new topic or reply, the cursor will be bugged.

I discovered that this only happens when the 'Shockwave Flash Object' Add-On is enabled. Disabling it resolves the issue, but obviously I would like to retain it's functionality for viewing embedded flash videos etc.

You can uninstall it and redownload it to see if the issue is fixed.

Hi,

overclock.net is using flash cookies....(well two of their advertising partners are)

To disable flash cookies go

Start>Control Panel>Flash Player (32bit), select "Block all sites from storing information on this computer"

go back to overlock.net and refresh the page... should be sweet except for the two Flash advertisements on the landing page which do not have an image fallback.

Regards.

Hi, I tried both suggestions, but the cursor issue persists.

I also notice I can't drag images into Google image search, which is also extremely irritating. Not sure if it's related.

Razer DA 1800DPI, but it's not a mouse issue. It never happened in Chrome.

Remember that the issue is not present when 'Shockwave Flash Object' Add-On is disabled.

If you're wondering why I stopped using Chrome, it's because that browser had really gone to rubbish recently with several highly annoying issues. I moved to IE to avoid those issues, but now I'm starting to wonder if I'm any better off.

EDIT: This is very strange, I just went on to the overclock.net site and 'edited' one post and the cursor was working properly, then I tried editing another and it was back to unanimated/invisible most of the time.

Here is another site where it happens: http://www.diablofans.com/forum

EDIT 2: Also can't 'drag and drop' images to this site (for uploading) http://imgur.com/

I might try IE8... or Firefox.

These are my main Chrome issues, replicated on multiple systems (even XP). Both only started happening in the last month or so:

2) About 15% of the times I use the 'back' function, I get this: http://i.imgur.com/eFFeb.jpg

Go backwards has never sent me to a picture that you posted,
Your using win-7 now and google is your default search in chrome ?
